At the WDC AGM held in Blackpool on May 31, 2007, the WDC countries voted 90% in
favour of Canada's motion that the WDC and its member countries register
both
amateur
and professional competitors.
Many
delegates said this was one of the most important decisions ever taken
by the WDC
MOTION 4 It is moved that the WDC give full support to those member countries that have formed amateur
associations and that the WDC and its member countries register amateur
and
professional competitors that comprise the entire spectrum of ballroom
dance
competitions
from the beginner social dancer to high-ranking amateurs and ending
with
the professional champions.
